The Christmas Daddies Telethon is broadcast live on CTV on the first Sunday in December each year. The seven-hour telethon, a Maritime tradition, benefits less fortunate children throughout the region. Funds raised are returned to the area from which they originated, and are distributed by the Salvation Army.
The Cape Breton Christmas Daddies Telethon is broadcast simultaneously with the Halifax-Moncton show, and can be viewed 11am-6pm (Atlantic Standard Time) on the first Sunday in December each year on CTV. Also, viewers across Canada can watch the last three hours of the Cape Breton Christmas Daddies broadcast on ASN, Bell Express View (Channel 202), Star Choice (Channel 340) or cable channels - check your local listings. This gives "Capers" throughout Canada an opportunity to enjoy this long-time Cape Breton tradition
In the past twenty-nine years the Cape Breton Christmas Daddies Telethon, produced and televised from Sydney, has raised over three million dollars.
